2011 in Review
Things I learned in 2011:
- Zurich, Switzerland is a wonderful place to live!
- sometimes closing down a project or event is what needs to be done, difficult as that may seem
- how to control painful arthritis with diet (& to make awesome gluten-free pancakes)
- all about panda bears at the wonderful Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding
- that Senator status in Lufthansa‘s frequent flier mile program is granted only to true road warriors
- all about canine epilepsy, which Mufasa has developed. Feel free to ask if you need info.
- that taking care of oneself, one’s home, one’s family is the most important things of all. It’s the foundation for the rest of it.
Things I’m Grateful for from 2011:
- Seeing the world & all the people who shared that and made it possible
- Mom’s visits! They are helpful in more ways than I can say here.
- The Summit community being so wonderful about its cancellation.
- Wendy & Leif R. planning a great safari & administering much-needed medical care when I arrived in Africa sick & exhausted
- the women at Hundeland & other dogsitters taking good care of Mufasa
- all you wonderful people – friends and acquaintances old & new, family, friends of friends. Seeing you all over the world this year was so special.
- social media keeping us all connected (loved discovering on facebook in January that Michaela and I were in the same hotel in Manila – she from DC, me from Zurich!)
What’s next?
This year I’m taking a wait-and-see approach. Mufasa needs special care now. I’ve learned not to overpromise. It’s time to build a solid base, grow some roots. I’ll be working on & wishing joy, wonder & connection for us all. Happy New Year to you! Thank you for being here.
