Home — it’s officially a theme here now

This is the backyard of the house where I grew up. Well, we moved here when I was about to start the sixth grade (from just across the highway — in the same school district, even). My folks still live here.
These days I’m mostly putzing. Mufasa and I only go on very short walks here because it’s so hot. One night I even waited til 1 a.m. to take him. He got his doggie passport today. Everything is ready. I found out that unlike other airlines, Continental will fly dogs in the summer because they use air conditioned facilties. Mufasa and I both will fly from Atlanta on August 9. It’s amazing how once I found the right path, everything is just falling into place.

My bags are mostly packed. Now I will go to the beach and enjoy being at home for a while. Thursday we’re off! Thanks everybody for your great messages and missives. So many of you will come to visit there. We’ll have big fun!

I’m looking forward to walking everywhere in Switzerland, and that Mufasa can go everywhere with me — he’s such a good, mellow traveler.

  1. becky, here is my favorite travel quote

We shall not cease from exploration and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time T. S. Elliot

I am sure you have heard that one a zillion times before, but as I was searching the net to find this quote, I came across this page

lots of food for thought there (for the travelers mental diet anyway), including this gem

If we are always arriving and departing it is also true that we are eternally anchored. One’s destination is never a place but rather a new way of looking at things

    Henry Miller

maybe that is what you have experienced in the last couple of years, the continual change of perspective/climate/locale both extrenally and internally… changing and changing until you have tremendous ability to understand…. tremendous maps swimming in your cerebellum.. both internally & externally…

hmmm.. thats a big thought for a wednesday!!!
