Leaving Boulder (again)

Boulder

It’s time to go and I am never ready to leave Boulder.  So many good friends, the dry air and sunshine, great food soooo cheap, always things to do, or you can do nothing at all but hang out and that’s fine, too.  I love it here.

Meet Linus and Olivia.  They were born 11 days apart to two of my good friends, who are also friends.  Too cute.

It’s a big part of the story here on this blog… leaving Boulder in 2004 before I was really ready.  I needed to leave then for the job, in the midst of the divorce.  And it made all the rest of this possible — the global travel, new work opportunities, meeting wonderful people all over the world.  It made a multilingual traveller of me. For that I am so grateful.  I wouldn’t take it back and don’t regret it. I’ve got to get back here more often, though. My people are here. I miss seeing the babies grow up. Leaving is still hard every single time.

It’s part of the struggle of being an expat, I think, living full out, loving the adventure and missing home all the while…

I hope you can come back more often, Becky. We all miss you, and it would be so great to see everyone more often. Good luck on the travels. I’m so happy I got to see you last weekend. xoxo
